The COBRAS cycling team was founded in 1993 by Herman Ponder, an accomplished racer, and Frank Schneider, a beginning racer as a developmental/racing club focused on individuals who love the sport of cycling and who already race or are interested in learning to race. We are also a social club and host weekly team rides and social events. Membership is open to anyone who enjoys cycling whether they race or not.
COBRAS is a registered club of the USA Cycling (USAC) and Bicycle Colorado and our members’ race as part of the COBRAS team. COBRAS members who race locally are required to hold a USAC license.
The club provides members with training, mentoring, weekly team rides, and the opportunity to participate in community service projects and social events. Club clothing such as jerseys, shorts, skin suits, shoe covers, arm warmers, and caps are available at a discounted cost.
COBRAS organize and present the Karen Hornbostel Time Trial Series in Cherry Creek State Park. For more information about the KHMTT, visit the KHMTT web site.
Volunteering at this event provides our members with complimentary entrance fees seven weeks of time trial races and provides the club with funds for our community services as well as our training and social budgets.
If you have a love of cycling and bicycle racing (or would like to learn more about racing), and would just like a club where you can participate in weekly rides and not have to try to keep up with the young guns, we would love to have you join us!
For more information about membership, visit our Join COBRAS page or if you have questions, just go to our Contact Us page and send us an email.
